Western Sydney University 2025 Vice-Chancellor's Leadership Scholarship

The Vice-Chancellor's Leadership Scholarship (VCLS) aims to reward the success and accomplishments of high-achieving secondary school students who demonstrate excellence not only in their academic studies, but also in other aspects of their lives. Additionally, these scholarship holders are offered access to The Academy (opens in new window) which helps to optimise their academic and leadership potential.

Benefits

$10,000 per year for up to 5 years* for an undergraduate degree including Honours, or for a five-year combined degree

Requirements

Current high school leavers only. Students who are considering a gap year should apply in the year that they undertake their Higher School Certificate (HSC), and if successful, defer their course and scholarship for up to one year.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Any undergraduate degree

Additional:

  • reside in or have undertaken their Higher School Certificate in Western Sydney
  • have received an offer to study, have applied for a course as their first preference through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) (opens in new window)Opens in a new window or have applied through the Western Portal.
  • demonstrate a high level of academic achievement through a minimum ATAR of 90** or equivalent
  • provide evidence of leadership and community involvement (e.g. School Captain, community service, sport, the arts, public speaking, Maths/Science Olympiads, Duke of Edinburgh award, etc.)

Selection Process

Applicants must provide a statement supporting their application indicating how they believe receiving the scholarship will assist them with their studies and future careers. This statement should give a sufficient explanation of the applicant's background and current circumstances to enable the University to judge their eligibility, need and merit.

Successful applicants will be selected based on their written application, academic potential, ability to meet the criteria, and, where appropriate, performance in an interview before a selection panel.
