Cavaliere Alfredo Strano has bequeathed funds to The University of Western Australia ('the University') in honour of his parents who, as migrants to Australia, had a great love for their country of birth and for that of their adopted country. The scholarship is provided to assist and encourage a top Year 12 Western Australian Certificate of Education ('WACE') Italian student to commence and undertake Italian Studies at the University.

To be eligible to be considered for a scholarship, in the year prior to commencing University, a candidate must—
(a) have successfully completed Year 12 WACE Italian; and
(b) have applied for a place at the University in an undergraduate degree course.
Eligible candidates are automatically considered for this award and do not need to submit a formal application.
