UQ Firebirds Scholarship 2025

This scholarship was established in 2019 and is maintained by an annual gift from Queensland Firebirds and UQ Marketing and Communications.

2025 marks the 10-year anniversary of the partnership between The University of Queensland, Netball Queensland and the Queensland Firebirds. In celebration of this milestone, we’re extending our annual offering of 4 scholarships to 10 in 2026.

Requirements

You're eligible if you:

• are a Commencing Student; 
• are or will be enrolled full-time in an Approved Program; 
• can demonstrate that you have played netball for school or a club, or contributed to the sport of netball through coaching or volunteering within the two year period prior to the year of the award.

Interview Dates and Process

UQ will consider:

• strength of interest in your chosen Approved Program as evidenced by your personal statement included in the application; and
• your commitment to the netball community as evidenced by your personal statement included in the application.

Preference will be given to applicants who (in order of preference):

• are Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons; 
• are from a Regional, Rural or Remote Area; 
• are First in Family; 
• can demonstrate financial hardship by providing documentary evidence.
