University of Sydney ARIAM Research Hub PhD Scholarships 2025

A $40,000 per annum stipend scholarship for research students within Faculty of Engineering to work in a multidisciplinary research team, Australian Research Council (ARC) Research Hub Intelligent Robotics Systems for Real-Time Asset Management (ARIAM).

Benefits

The Scholarship will provide a stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney’s Research Training Program (RTP) stipend rate per annum (indexed on 1 January each year), and is maintained through satisfactory academic performance, as per the below duration:

  • up to 1 year for a Master’s by Research recipient (full-time equivalent). No possible extension.
  • up to 3.5 years for a PhD recipient (full-time equivalent). No possible extension.

The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) is also provided subject to satisfactory academic performance, as per the below duration:

  • up to four research periods for a Master’s by Research recipient (full-time equivalent). No possible extension.
  • up to fourteen research periods for a PhD recipient (full-time equivalent). No possible extension.

Requirements

You must:

  • have an unconditional offer of admission for full-time enrolment in a PhD program or an unconditional offer of admission for full-time enrolment in a Master’s by Research program with the intent to transfer to PhD after satisfactory completion of the first annual progress evaluation within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney
  • have an unconditional offer of admission under the supervision of a Chief Investigator (CI) in the ARIAM Research Hub will automatically be considered for the Scholarship. A separate application is not required.
  • hold at least an Honours degree (First Class or Second Class Upper) or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • withdraw applications for Research Training Program (RTP) funding, including any RTP Allowance, RTP Fees Offset (international only), RTP Stipend or RTP Scholarships after accepting this scholarship 
  • have applied for your student visa before you commence your studies (if you are an international student)
  • spend a certain amount of time embedded with the industry partner’s offices, as agreed between the supervisor and the industry partner as permitted by the University of Sydney (Higher Degree by Research) Rule 2011.
