This scholarship has been established to support the development of the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health researchers. It reflects the University of Newcastle’s ongoing commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander advancement and recognises the important role of Indigenous-led research in improving health equity.
The scholarship provides a total benefit of $5000 for a term of one year. This is paid as $2500 over two semesters. Payments are generally made 3 weeks after the relevant semester census dates.

Selection is a competitive process and will be based on assessment of the scholarship application and any required supporting documents, with reference to the eligibility criteria.
Selection will be made by the Selection Panel which will consist of a minimum of three members chosen by Professor Michelle Kennedy.
