Benefits

The scholarship provides a benefit of $5,000 paid as a lump sum.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in any year of a Bachelor of Communication, Bachelor of Media and Communication or Bachelor of Visual Communication Design.
• Be intending to study on a full-time basis (minimum 60 units per year).
• Have the ATAR required for entry to your program if a new student; or a minimum GPA of 4.0 if you are a continuing student. Please note that you do not need to provide evidence of this as we will use University reporting.
• Demonstrate the impact of educational disadvantage such as carer and sole parent responsibilities, financial hardship, long-term medical condition, a disability, the ongoing effects of abuse, and regional/remote disadvantage.
• Equity scholarships will also consider applicant attributes such as being an Indigenous Australian, having a Refugee background, or placement with an Out-of-Home Care provider.
• Not be the recipient of another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship concurrently.

Selection Process

Selection is competitive and based on a thorough assessment of each application, considering both the eligibility criteria and the applicant's demonstrated educational disadvantage.

The Scholarships Officer will assess applications in the following order of priority:

• Fulfilment of all eligibility criteria.
• Evidence of educational disadvantage.
• Academic merit (may be considered where relevant).
