University of Newcastle Justice Health Custodial Health Excellence Scholarship 2025

Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (The Network) manages the health care of more than 30,000 patients in custody within secure settings across NSW. We provide 800,000 occasions of service to adults and young people in contact with the forensic mental health and criminal justice systems. Our teams provide multidisciplinary services including primary care, mental health, drug and alcohol, population health, gender-based health, midwifery care, oral health, Aboriginal health, youth health, and a range of allied health services.

Benefits

The scholarship provides a total benefit of $5000 which will be paid as two lump sums of $2,500 after Semester census dates.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in a Masters of Mental Health or Masters of Nursing program with a custodial specialisation at the University of Newcastle
  • Be a current permanent employee of Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (NSW).
  • Have a minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse working in Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (NSW).
  • Not be the recipient of another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship concurrently.

Selection Process

Selection is a competitive process and will be based on assessment of the scholarship application and any required supporting documents, with reference to the eligibility criteria.

 

 

Application Documents

  • A personal statement (approx. 1 A4 page) outlining your academic achievements, career aspirations in the relevant area of study, and how this scholarship would assist you. This statement will cover all scholarships you are submitting for.
  • Provide a Statement of Service to evidence for employment with Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (NSW) of one year or more & optional supporting statements from peers or managers, participation in quality improvement and/or research.
