Benefits

  • The scholarship provides a total benefit of $10,000 annually to full-time students to be paid as 2 x $5,000 payments each semester after the relevant census dates (usually in April and September).
  • This will be paid for the standard duration of your program, up to a maximum of $40,000 for four years, provided ongoing eligibility is met. This scholarship must be taken up in the year for which it is awarded.

Requirements

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:

  • Be enrolling or be enrolled in 1st year of an undergraduate Engineering degree program with the University of Newcastle (excluding Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering).
  • Be willing to consider opportunities offered by the donor to undertake professional experience activities, for educational and development purposes, which are required in your course of study. Australian Government security clearance will be required.
  • Be an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident (including holders of a permanent humanitarian visa and New Zealand citizens with permanent residency).
  • Establish your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity and heritage with the university via the process available here.
  • Students may hold another University of Newcastle scholarship concurrently. Preference may be given to students where their concurrent scholarship support is less than $15,000 pa.

Selection Process

Selection is a competitive process and will be based on assessment of the scholarship application and any required supporting documents, with reference to the eligibility criteria.

Application Documents

  • A personal statement (approx. 1 A4 page) outlining your academic achievements, career aspirations in the relevant area of study, and how this scholarship would assist you. This statement will cover all scholarships you are submitting for.
  • Up to 3 documents which demonstrate your academic achievements, such as awards, participation in enrichment and travel programs or internships, academic competitions, portfolio or cv. Transcripts are not required for UON students.
