University of Melbourne Philip Hunter Fellowship 2025

The Philip Hunter Fellowship is offered to students enrolled in a wide range of art forms and creative disciplines engaging in themes and issues that hold currency in contemporary creative practice. The intention of this fellowship is to provide financial support to practitioners so that their creative practice and studio programme can continue to develop and sustain.

Benefits

The Philip Hunter Fellowship provides a $20,000 grant, payable in two parts in the following year and a six monthly progress report will be required to release the second allocation.

Requirements

To be considered for this fellowship, you must:

• Have been practicing your art form between 5-15 years after graduating from
  any undergraduate or graduate degree within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music
• Not have received the Philip Hunter Fellowship previously
• Provide evidence of having identified an opportunity outside of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, University of Melbourne, that will be important to your professional development.

Selection Process

The Fellowship selection panel will include a senior academic from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music and a representative of the Philip Hunter Estate. This panel will be appointed on an annual basis by the Director of the Victorian College of the Arts. The Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music will provide final approval of the recipient.
The awarding of the Fellowship, by the selection panel, will be based on:

* The quality of the application portfolio.
* Creative accomplishments.
* Originality and persuasiveness of the proposal outline.
* Evidence of ability to fulfll the proposed project’s aims and outcomes.
* The potential for the Fellowship to impact the applicant’s future development.
