The Di Pietro First in the Family Scholarship is offered to talented students enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce who will be the first in their family to attend university and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances.
This scholarship provides a living allowance of $10,000 per year for three years paid in half-yearly instalments of $5000 in April and September.
Recipients of the scholarship will automatically be admitted into the Abernethy Scholars Program. This program provides unique opportunities such as guaranteed access to the Faculty’s Career Mentoring Program, invitations to a variety of leadership events hosted by the Faculty and an academic mentoring opportunity with Professor Margaret Abernethy, Sir Douglas Copland Chair of Commerce and former Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics.

This scholarship cannot be deferred to the following year. In addition, students must agree to participate in publicity and events to acknowledge and thank donors.
The scholarship is offered to the student(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their academic merit as demonstrated by ATAR or equivalent, information provided in their SEAS application and other information about course preferences provided by VTAC at the time of selection.
You are automatically considered if you have applied for admission to the University via VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).
When will I know the outcome?
Successful candidates will be emailed in December/January.
