University of Adelaide PhD Scholarship Opportunity: Forging the new Australian Dream in a Post-homeownership nation 2025

This full-time, 3.5 year PhD scholarship is funded by the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics at the University of Adelaide as part of an Australian Research Council Discovery grant: Forging the new Australian Dream in a Post-homeownership nationTo commence in 2025, this PhD will involve international comparative analysis of qualitative (including primary data collection) and quantitative data, as well as literature reviewing and policy analysis. Experience in these methods is desirable. A solid understanding of research methods, and an enthusiasm for building these skills, as well as for housing research, is essential.

Project summary:

As we navigate the 21st Century as a ‘post-homeownership nation, this Project will chart the pathways, actions and actors required to transition to a new and ‘fit for purpose’ Australian Housing Dream. It will use international comparative, quantitative and qualitative analyses to provide new insights, and provide a roadmap that will support Australia to provide current and future generations with good housing outcomes – with or without home ownership.

The successful student will be supervised by Dr Amy Clair and Professor Emma Baker in the Australian Centre for Housing Research.

Benefits

The scholarship will be for 3.5 years and has a stipend of $35,300 (indexed annually) per annum. It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval.

Requirements

Applicants who are acceptable as candidates for a PhD degree at the University of Adelaide will be considered for scholarship.

    1. research interest statement (covering experience and how this aligns with the PhD project)
    2. evidence of your enthusiasm for, and experience in, multidisciplinary research
    3. evidence of your ability to work independently and as part of a team to produce high quality outputs
