The University of Notre Dame Opportunity Program Scholarship 2027

The University of Notre Dame Australia’s Opportunity Program Scholarship provides financial support to eligible students whose circumstances may affect their ability to participate in and succeed in higher education.

The scholarship supports commencing and current undergraduate and postgraduate students across a range of study areas.

Benefits

The Program comprises two (2) scholarships:

• Notre Dame Opportunity Scholarship
  • The Notre Dame Opportunity Scholarship is valued at up to $7,500, payable at $2,500 per annum.
• Notre Dame Opportunity Plus Scholarship
  • The Notre Dame Opportunity Plus Scholarship is valued at up to $20,000, payable at $10,000 in the first year of study, and $5,000 for each subsequent year of study.

Requirements

To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia;
• Be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate award program at the University, excluding PhD programs; and
• Meet the selection criteria

SELAECTION CRITERIA

Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, best demonstrate through their application and supporting documentation:

• Meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Be from a low socio-economic background – as determined by a permanent home address falling within the lowest quartile in the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Index of Education and Occupation by Statistical Area 1;
  • Be from a regional or remote area – as determined by a permanent home address being classified as Inner Regional, Outer Regional, Remote or Very Remote in the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) Edition 3;
  • Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
• Financial hardship;
• Any personal circumstances that have impacted, or may impact university studies, including but not limited to:
  • First in family to attend university;
  • Disability or ongoing medical condition;
  • Caring responsibilities;
  • Housing instability or relocation requirements;
  • Cultural or community obligations;
  • Other circumstances affecting ability to study.
