Swinburne University of Technology Access Scholarship for First Year Undergraduates 2025

Access Scholarships are funded by the Department of Education’s Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Programme (HEPPP). HEPPP aims to ensure that Australians from low SES backgrounds who have the ability to study at university get the opportunity to do so. Students offered an Access Scholarship for First Year Undergraduates may undertake any undergraduate degree course at Swinburne.

The Access Scholarship for First Year Undergraduates is open to students who are commencing their first year of study in 2025, and are able to demonstrate one of the following:

  • Experiencing financial or personal hardship or low socio-economic status
  • A current or previous permanent humanitarian visa holder
  • Care Leavers from Australian State or Foster Care
  • Have relocated from a rural or regional area in order to study

Please note: Previous recipients of any type of Swinburne Access Scholarship are not eligible to apply for a second Swinburne Access Scholarship.

Benefits

  • This scholarship is valued at $5,500 in the first year and $5,000 per year for the subsequent two years.
  • The scholarship is awarded for a maximum duration of 3 years.

Requirements

To be eligible for the Access Scholarship for First Year Undergraduates, applicants must:

  1. Meet the following citizenship criteria
    • Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
  2. Meet the following enrolment criteria:
    • be a commencing first year Swinburne student in Semester 2, 2025 
    • enrolled full-time or part-time in an eligible course (see courses eligible in section above)
  3. Provide evidence of one of the following: 
    • Experiencing financial or personal hardship or low socio-economic status (evidence may include Centrelink statements, Health Care Card or ATO Payment Summary)
    • A current or previous permanent humanitarian visa holder
    • Care Leavers from Australian State or Foster Care
    • Have relocated from a rural or regional area in order to study
  4. Submit a personal statement (500 words) addressing personal and/or financial diasdavantage

Provide your address and select Australian Statistical Geographic Standard Remoteness Areas classification option to determine your geographic classification.
