Benefits

  • This scholarship provides $10,000 per year for up to three years.

Requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident or an Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder
  • be a resident of Victoria
  • be commencing the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BP201) at RMIT in semester 1 2026 and enrolling full-time
  • be able to demonstrate circumstance/s which impact your ability to study such as:
    • receiving a government tested low income benefit or having a Centrelink Health Care Card
    • living with a disability, long-term medical condition or identify as neurodiverse
    • experiencing personal/family/social difficulties
    • be from an interstate or rural/regional area and moving/moved to Melbourne to study at RMIT
    • have previously/are currently living in foster/kinship care or are a ward of the state
    • be from an under-represented background such as
      • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
      • were born overseas, are from a non-English background and recently migrated to Australia
      • current or former refugee
      • completed secondary school at a?School Network Access Program?school
  • be able to demonstrate innovative approaches to traditional materials or techniques in the creation of your art

Application Documents

Depending on your circumstances, you will need to provide different types of evidence and material to support your scholarship application. Applications without supporting documents will not be considered.

You will also need:

  • A selection of three examples of your own original artistic work uploaded as part of your application (jpeg, mkv, mp3/mp4 or png).
    • Ensure your artistic work demonstrates your approach to traditional materials or techniques.

OR

  • A selection of three examples of your own original artistic sound works uploaded to Soundcloud. You will need to provide the web link(s) so that the selection panel can assess your work.
    • Ensure your artistic work demonstrates your approach to traditional materials or techniques.

Application questions

It is expected that the online application will take approximately thirty minutes to complete. The main application questions are listed below to allow you time to prepare your answers prior to starting the online application.

  • Describe the materials you are currently using in your art and identify how you consider these to be traditional and innovative.
  • Discuss why art is important for society and why you have chosen to study art.
  • Discuss any difficult circumstances you have faced that have affected your education.
