This PhD project will contribute to the development and optimisation of a Paediatric Post-Sepsis Model of Care that supports and improves outcomes for children and their families in the weeks, months, and years following this devastating illness.The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative environment under the supervision of Professor Debbie Long, with opportunities to engage with leading clinicians, consumer advocates, policymakers, and health service researchers through the Faculty of Health’s research centres and affiliated partners.

Benefits
- You'll receive a stipend of $37,010 per annum (from 1 January 2026) for a maximum duration of 3.5 years while undertaking a QUT PhD. The duration includes an extension of up to 6 months if approved for your candidature. This is the full-time, tax-exempt rate which will index annually.
- In addition, you will receive a top-up scholarship of $10,000 per annum for a maximum of 3.5 years.
- You will receive a tuition fee offset/sponsorship, covering the cost of your tuition fees for the first 4 full-time equivalent years of your doctoral studies.
- As the scholarship recipient, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of leading researchers, to undertake your own innovative research in and across the field.
Requirements
- You need to meet the entry requirements for a QUT Doctor of Philosophy including any English language requirements.
- You must commence your degree by January 2026.
- Enrol as a full time, internal student (unless approval for part-time and/or external study is obtained).
- Have a background as a health professional or consumer advocate who has worked with (or conducted research with people with health conditions. Additionally, it is preferred if you have:
- experience/study in research
- experience in paediatrics.
