QUT Equity Scholarships Scheme 2025

The QUT Equity Scholarships Scheme is an application-based scheme offered to students who may be experiencing financial difficulty. It is funded by significant contributions from the QUT Learning Potential Fund.

Applications are open twice a year and you only need to submit one application to be considered for all scholarships and bursaries under the scheme (except the QUT Asylum Seeker Tuition Fee Scholarship).

Benefits

There are several scholarships and bursaries that fall under the QUT Equity Scholarships Scheme.

Students can only receive one scholarship or bursary under the scheme in any given academic year. If you are eligible for two or more scholarships or bursaries under the scheme, you will be awarded the higher valued scholarship or bursary.

Only one application is required to be considered for all of the following scholarships and bursaries.

A separate application is required for the QUT Asylum Seeker Tuition Fee Scholarship.

Requirements

You must be either a current or future:

  • domestic QUT student undertaking an undergraduate, postgraduate or research qualification
  • international QUT student undertaking an undergraduate, postgraduate or research qualification
  • domestic QUT College student studying a diploma program or the University Preparation Program (UPP).

You must also be

  • from a low-income household
  • experiencing financial hardship.

Personal hardship will also be taken into consideration when assessing applications. Examples of these include:

  • medical conditions or disability
  • regional, rural, and remote
  • being a parent or carer
  • caring for dependents over 18 years
  • having children with disability
  • being a refugee or asylum seeker
  • difficult or disrupted family or personal circumstances.

Scholarships and bursaries are not available to:

  • single-unit study students - studying an individual unit at QUT, but not enrolled in a QUT award course
  • cross-institutional students - enrolled in an award course at another university, but studying specific units at QUT and receiving credit towards your award course at the other university
  • international QUT College students
  • students in foundation programs, undergraduate certificates, or English language courses.

Your application will be assessed and scored against criteria, such as:

  • income
  • assets and liabilities
  • expenditure
  • personal hardship.

How To Apply

If you are a bachelor degree or higher degree student:

If you are a diploma or University Preparation Program (UPP) student:

You only need to submit one application form to be considered for all scholarships and bursaries under the QUT Equity Scholarships Scheme.

The outcome of your application typically takes a month after you’ve submitted all the necessary supporting documentation. If further information is requested from you, this will delay the outcome of your application.

Scholarships and bursaries are paid after Semester 1 and Semester 2 coursework census date each year. You must be enrolled at QUT after the census date and at the time the payment is processed.

Higher  degree by research students with a status of 'under examination' are not considered enrolled and therefore are not eligible for payment.
