QUT Budding Entrepreneur Scholarship 2025

The QUT Budding Entrepreneur Scholarship (‘the Scholarship’) is a merit scholarship valued at $24,000, offered to commencing domestic students. This is provided to the Participant via funds transfer to their nominated bank account.

Benefits

You'll receive:

  • a $24,000 scholarship ($4,000 per semester) to be paid across three years (regardless of the degree you're studying). This is paid as a stipend after the HECS-HELP census date of each semester
  • automatic membership into QUT's College of Excellence.

Requirements

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a permanent humanitarian visa
  • be graduating Year 12 in 2025 or have graduated Year 12 in 2024
  • be starting university study for the first time in 2026
  • have not undertaken/commenced any tertiary study, other than studies in special university programs designed for secondary school students (e.g. START QUT)
  • have placed QUT as your first preference on your QTAC application
  • have applied for a tertiary place through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) and received a QUT offer in your first preference

There is a two-stage application process.

In stage one you must complete an online application and provide:

  • In no more than 800 words, describe what entrepreneurship means to you, tell us about the entrepreneurial activity you have engaged in, and explain what learning you took away from that practice.
  • a three-minute recorded video pitch on 'University study at QUT will prepare me for the challenges of being an entrepreneur by...'
  • a letter of reference from a mentor or teacher who can attest to your passion
  • statements and letters of reference should be saved as one PDF document.

All documents should be completed before starting your online application.

Stage two requires you to attend a virtual or in person panel interview (interviews with shortlisted applicants will begin the week commencing 19 January 2026).
