Queensland University of Technology Indigenous Australian Accommodation Scholarship 2025

The Indigenous Australian Accommodation Scholarship provides culturally supportive accommodation to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students transition to university life. It offers opportunities for pastoral care, cultural support, and academic growth within the QUT community. A 12-month accommodation scholarship available to eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students relocating to QUT.

Benefits

First- year students commencing in Semester 2, 2025 will receive fully funded 12-month accommodation at Student One Elizabeth Street. Rooming types are allocated based on individual needs.

Rooming types include:

  • executive apartments
  • queen apartments
  • premium apartments
  • shared apartments.

Other benefits include:

  • residency at Student One Elizabeth Street in a dedicated student community on levels 9 and 10
  • access to the Oodgeroo Unit and QUT community for cultural and academic support
  • free unlimited Wi-Fi
  • central location near public transport, shops, restaurants and QUT campuses
  • modern amenities such as a rooftop cinema, BBQ area, gym, study areas and games rooms
  • secure accommodation with 24/7 reception
  • access to events, workshops, and activities for networking and development.

Extended stay options may be available for students undertaking internships, placements, deferred assessments, or summer semester studies, subject to approval by the Oodgeroo Unit.

Requirements

You must:

  • identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Person as defined under Section 5 of the Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent Policy
  • be an Australian citizen
  • be relocating from a regional, rural, or remote area or interstate area
  • be commencing an undergraduate award course at QUT for the first time in Semester 2, 2025.

Applicants applying via the Centralised Assessment and Selection Program (CASP) who meet the eligibility criteria will be considered automatically for the QUT Indigenous Australian Accommodation Scholarship.

What happens next?

This scholarship is a top up offer round with limited places available. Scholarship offers for this round will be provided on Friday 30 June 2025.

The scholarship application process is a competitive process. With a limited number of scholarships available, not all eligible applicants will be offered a scholarship.

The scholarship program starts on Friday 5 July 2025. This includes a mandatory, in-person induction during POP Week (7 July 2025). Students must be prepared to move into Student One, Elizabeth Street on or/ by Friday 5 July 2025 and attend an induction of Student One.

Conditions

To maintain this scholarship, you must:

  • maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 4.00 or higher each semester
  • be enrolled full-time, internally
  • maintain good student behaviour in accordance with the IAAS Behaviour and Conduct Agreement, Student One Residence Rules, and the QUT Student Code of Conduct.

You can:

  • change your award course whilst receiving benefits under the IAAS.

You can't:

  • take a leave of absence (only permitted under special circumstances)
  • be enrolled part-time or online whilst receiving benefits under the IAAS.
