This scholarship was established at the request of Norman Bushman, who was born in Singleton, NSW. While he lived his adult life in Sydney, he had a strong connection to the Hunter Valley with a great love for music.

Benefits
The scholarship provides a benefit of $15,000, paid as two equal payments of $7,500 in Semester 1 and 2.
Requirements
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you will need to:
- Be enrolled in any year of a University of Newcastle undergraduate Music program with a focus in voice
- Be intending to study on a full-time basis (minimum 60 units per year).
- Demonstrate academic achievement by having a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 or higher in your current program.
- Demonstrate the impact of educational disadvantage such as carer and sole parent responsibilities, financial hardship, long-term medical condition, a disability, the ongoing effects of abuse, and regional/remote disadvantage.
- Equity scholarships will also consider applicant attributes such as being an Indigenous Australian, having a Refugee background, or placement with an Out-of-Home Care provider.
- Not have previously completed an Australian undergraduate degree program.
- Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Not be the recipient of another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship concurrently.
Selection Process
Selection is a competitive process and will be based on assessment of the scholarship application and any required supporting documents. An interview/ audition may be held if required.
