Monash University Master of Commerce Scholarship 2025

The Master of Commerce is a research-oriented programme preparing students for a PhD and an academic career. Offered as part of an Integrated PhD program, the MCom may be completed in one or two years, depending on the specialisation and the student's prior studies. The MCom provides advanced coursework relevant to the specialisation to provide a thorough academic grounding in the skills and knowledge required to undertake original research. Upon successful completion of the MCom degree,  students who perform at the required standard and demonstrate strong research capability will progress to the PhD (3 years). The MCom is the perfect pathway to doctoral studies for students who aim to pursue an academic career.

Benefits

• Tuition fees paid, plus an allowance of $36,063 (the equivalent to the current PhD stipend rate).
• Scholarships are available for either 1 year or 2 years.

Requirements

• An Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian humanitarian visa holder, or an International student
• A current full-time Monash student or an applicant seeking to enrol full-time, in the Master of Commerce degree
• You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are, or become, employed on a continuing basis or a fixed term contract for 3 months or greater.

Selection Process

Selection for the Integrated PhD program is highly competitive.  All shortlisted applicants will be automatically considered for the Master of Commerce Scholarship.

• Selection is based on outstanding academic achievement, interest in a research career in the relevant discipline and interview performance.

Application Deadline

How To Apply

• All applications for the MCom will be considered for the Scholarship as part of the selection process for the Integrated PhD program. Information about the application process for the Integrated PhD program is provided here
• Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a 30-minute interview with a panel constituted by the Master of Commerce Program Director of the relevant MCom specialisation
• The scholarship can be deferred under special circumstances only.
