The donors have established the Scholarship Fund to provide support for domestic and international students enrolled at Macquarie University who intend to undertake study abroad at a university in Taiwan, or participate in a short-term academic program in Taiwan, as part of their undergraduate or postgraduate degree. The Fund aims to foster a deeper understanding and immersion in Taiwanese culture.

The scholarship provides a one-off payment of $3,500.
Requirements
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be an Australian or International Student.
- Be commencing or continuing student, enrolled part-time or full-time.
- Continuing students must have maintained a minimum WAM of 60.
- Be enrolled in Faculty of Arts (FOA) programs, including those undertaking double degrees, provided at least one of their degrees is within the Faculty.
- Have received a Confirmation or offer of participation in an intended exchange or short-term program in Taiwan, facilitated by the Mobility team.
Application Documents
Applicants are required to submit the following materials:
- Statement of purpose (300–500 words): a personal statement outlining:
- your motivation for studying in Taiwan
- any relevant experience or coursework related to Taiwan
- how the program fits with your academic or career goals
- how you hope to promote Australia–Taiwan understanding
- any financial challenges the grant would help address.
- Proof of enrolment in Taiwan-related study: documentation showing current or intended enrolment in Taiwan-focused language, cultural, or area studies at a host institution in Taiwan.
- Evidence of academic merit: a current academic transcript or other evidence demonstrating strong academic performance.
- Evidence of engagement potential: any materials that demonstrate cultural curiosity, initiative, or past engagement with Taiwanese or broader East Asian communities (eg volunteer work, projects, event participation).
- Referee statement (optional): a short academic or professional reference supporting your application (maximum one page).
