Grffith University Vice Chancellor's Academic Achievement Scholarship 2025

Griffith offers these respected scholarships to outstanding students commencing their first-ever undergraduate degree in 2025.

The Vice Chancellor's Academic Achievement Scholarships will be focused on excellence and will also consider the barriers to education that students have faced.

Scholarship recipients will also be offered membership to the Student Academy of Excellence.

Benefits

Maximum value of the scholarship is determined by the length of the undergraduate degree for which you are awarded, and is calculated at a rate of $625/10 CP. For example:

  • $15,000 for a single degree (240 CP)
  • $20,000 for a double degree (320 CP).

Payment

Instalments are based on enrolled credit points for the trimester, up to the maximum value. Payments are made directly to the recipients' nominated bank account up to three weeks after the census date of each trimester, subject to satisfying scholarship terms and conditions.

Please note: Payments made to those studying part-time may be taxable.

Non-financial benefits

  • Offer of membership to the Student Academy of Excellence (formerly known as Griffith Honours College/GHC).
  • Support for professional development opportunity via a $2,000 travel grant—approved and administered by the Student Academy of Excellence to students that accept the offer of membership.
  • Marketing and promotional activities.

Student Academy of Excellence

The Student Academy of Excellence provides experiences and opportunities that help high-achieving undergraduate students reach their full potential. SAE provides members with:

  • opportunities to develop their personal, study, and employability skills
  • take part in student-led projects
  • access to academic and research mentors
  • opportunities to study and volunteer overseas
  • chances to network with a multi-disciplinary group of like-minded, exceptional students and alumni.

Requirements

??????To be eligible, you must:

  • be either:
    • an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder
    • an Australian Permanent Resident, New Zealand Citizen or international student who is completing or has completed Years 11 and 12 in Australia
  • be a student commencing university for the first time in Trimester 2 2025
  • have not undertaken/commenced any tertiary study (bachelor degree or postgraduate degree), with the exception of that undertaken as part of Year 11–12 studies (e.g. Enhanced Studies program, Head Start)
  • have applied to commence at Griffith University in Trimester 2 2025 through either Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC); Universities Admission Centre (UAC), or via direct entry
  • receive an unadjusted ATAR of 95.45 or above (or equivalent rank OP 3 or above, and IB 37 or above). Griffith may use your Educational Disadvantage Assessment score* to adjust your ATAR rank.

To remain eligible for this scholarship, applicants will be required to:

  • remain enrolled in an undergraduate degree at Griffith University
  • maintain a minimum cumulative career GPA of 5.5 or above.

The above conditions are verified each trimester at census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, scholarship payments may be withheld, or the scholarship may be terminated.

The following conditions apply:

  • Recipients must accept their admission offer from Griffith University.
  • A scholarship recipient may take leave of absence in accordance with university policy. Scholarship benefits are suspended for the period of leave of absence or deferment. A scholarship recipient who is not enrolled and is not on an approved leave of absence will lose their scholarship.
  • Recipients may be invited to feature in marketing materials to promote the scholarship.
  • Recipients must accept the scholarship offer, made via email, by the date indicated on the offer. They may be required to provide additional documentation to support their application.
  • Recipients who are on approved cross-institutional study continue to remain eligible for scholarship benefits and are required to provide documentation to prove cross-institutional study and academic load.
  • Recipients who continue directly into an add-on honours degree from their undergraduate bachelors degree may receive continued funding for the additional 80 CP degree.
  • Applications must be completed and submitted by the closing date.

*Information provided by individuals in their Griffith online scholarship application is used to conduct a comprehensive Educational Disadvantage Assessment (EDA) in accordance with the following categories:

  1. Financial hardship
  2. Home environment and responsibilities
  3. English language difficulty
  4. Personal illness and disability
  5. Educational disruption
  6. Remoteness or relocation within Australia.

  • The award of a Vice Chancellor’s Academic Achievement Scholarship does not guarantee you a place at Griffith University.
  • Scholarships are applied to ensure an equitable spread of scholarships across the academic groups. Griffith University reserves the right not to offer all the scholarships available, and to set a maximum limit on scholarships available for any one program or in any one academic group. The number of scholarships available in each category will be determined each year by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education).
  • The University will make its own judgement about what constitutes the most meritorious applications.
  • Griffith University reserves the right to withdraw an advertised scholarship at any time.
