2025 College of Science and Engineering Student Research Experience Award at Flinders University

The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at Flinders University will be offering Student Research Experience Awards of 4 to 6 weeks duration to undergraduate students from December 2025 until the end of June 2026.

These awards will provide students with an opportunity to gain an insight into research by participating in a research project under the supervision of a member of staff. As a part of the award, the student will gain valuable hands-on experience in the planning, conduct and analysis of research in their chosen field.

Benefits

The Awards will be of up to $1,500 for an approximately 4 to 6 week research project to be undertaken between December 2025 and end of June 2026. The award payment will be paid in a single lump sum payment on commencement of the project. The timing will be agreed on acceptance of the award.

Requirements

Applicants must fulfil all the eligibility criteria listed below:

•  Generally, be a current student at an Australian university and in the 2nd or 3rd year of their undergraduate degree, or the equivalent.
• Intend to enrol the next year at an Australian university.
• Have, by December 2025, completed between 54-90 units of a relevant undergraduate degree, or the equivalent.
• Be available for a placement of a minimum of four to six weeks between December 2025 and end of June 2026 (typically between early December and end of February).
• Not previously been awarded a CSE Student Research Experience or CSE Summer Research Award or Scholarship. 

Selection Process

Awardees will be selected based on:

• Progress in relevant degree (Flinders equivalent units) by December 2025 (calculation of units to include any credit transfers and does not include Honours units).
•  54 - 72 units - rank one
• 73 - 90 units - rank two
•  GPA of the last 36 units completed towards undergraduate study, not including current semester 2 results.
• A personal statement of no more than 300 words detailing the applicant’s suitability for the award.
