Curtin University - Semester 2 - Fieldwork and Placement Bursary 2025

The Fieldwork and Placement Bursary, (Scholarship) has been developed by Curtin University to encourage and support students who are completing compulsory fieldwork/practicum as a part of their degree.

Benefits

The scholarship will provide the following support:

  • A one-off cash payment ranging between $500 - $2,000. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards fieldwork, practicum or placement related expenses.

Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered eligible to apply for the scholarship:

  • Domestic student (Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, Permanent Humanitarian visa)
  • Enrolled in an eligible, fee-paying undergraduate certificate, undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree, at Curtin University in semester 2, 2025.
  • Enrolled full-time or part-time (minimum 25 credits).
  • Have a minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 50
  • Completing compulsory fieldwork, practicum or placement as a part of the course in semester 2, 2025, or completed in semester 1 of 2025, and have not previously received the bursary for the same placement
  • Low socio-economic background and demonstrated financial hardship

Please note:

  • Preference will be given to students who have not received the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) 
  • OUA students are eligible to apply, however must be enrolled in a full award course. Students enrolled in single subjects (non-award) are not eligible to apply.
  • Students enrolled through OUA can apply for fieldwork placements that take place during:
    • Study Period 1/2 in Semester 1, 2025 or Study Period 3/4 in Semester 2, 2025.

How To Apply

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
  • If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (equity and merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program".

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:

  • Students enrolled in OUA are eligible to apply for fieldwork undertaken during 2025 Semester 1 dates for Study Period 1 or Study Period 2 aswell as the 2025 Semester 2 dates for Study Period 3 or 4

Step 6: Outcome

  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline
