The Michael Jones Memorial Scholarship (Scholarship) has been developed to support a student from one of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder local high schools enrolled at Curtin to study a course in the WA School of Mines (WASM). The Jones family (Don Jones Retravision) established the scholarship in memory of Michael who was killed in a mining accident at the Hunt decline in Kambalda.

Benefits
The Scholarship will provide the following support for up to a maximum of four years (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per semester):
- A total value of up to $12,000 paid as a cash stipend of $1,500 per semester.
The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.
Requirements
- Domestic student (Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen)
- ATAR of 70 or above
- Selected Curtin University as a preference through TISC or apply direct to Curtin by the scholarship's closing date to undertake an eligible degree in 2026
- Receive an eligible course offer and will enrol full-time (75 credits per study period) into the eligible course at Curtin University in Semester 1, 2026
- Attended a Kalgoorlie-Boulder local high school
- Not in receipt of any other scholarships that are from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose
