The First Nations Education Costs Scholarship is to assist students with the cost of study (compulsory textbooks, study equipment and laptops).

Benefits

1. For full time commencing students, the scholarship is valued at $8,000 per annum, payable in two equal instalments of $4,000 in session one and session two
2. For full time continuing students the scholarship is valued at $6,000 per annum, payable in two equal instalments of $3,000 in session one and session two
3. For part-time commencing students the scholarship is valued at $4,000 per annum, payable in two equal instalments of $2,000 in session one and session two
4. For part-time continuing students the scholarship is valued at $3,000 per annum, payable in two equal instalments of $1,500 in session one and two.

Requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be:

1. a First Nations Australian citizen;
2. an active student studying in enabling, undergraduate, honours or postgraduate awards;
3. enrolled in a Charles Sturt course as a Commonwealth supported student in a Commonwealth supported place;
4. a commencing or continuing student. Continuing students must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0 or higher (pass grade average);
5. full time or part time
6. applicants must not be in receipt of the Centrelink Student Start up Loan or have received a payment from any other source for the same purpose of education costs.
7. in financial need:
   • in receipt of an eligible means tested Centrelink Benefit (refer to the list on the Guidelines tab for eligible benefits), or
   • able to demonstrate financial hardship.

Please note: Priority will be awarded to First Nations students from remote or regional areas.

Selection Process

• Applications will be assessed in accordance with the eligibility criteria and supporting documentation.
• Applications with incorrect or no supporting documentation will be deemed ineligible.
• You may be assessed as eligible but not receive an offer due to quota restrictions.
• There are no interviews required.
