Charles Sturt University Equity and Inclusion Grant 2025

The university understands that studying with a disability or health condition can bring additional challenges. To support students facing these difficulties, the university has created the Equity and Inclusion Grant. This grant is intended for students with financial need who have a disability or health condition, offering financial assistance to help them in their academic journey.

Requirements

To be eligible for this grant you must:

  • Live with a permanent or temporary disability (refer to the list provided in the guidelines).
  • Be currently studying an undergraduate or postgraduate degree as an active student, having completed at least one semester or enrolled after the census date of your first semester.
  • Be enrolled in a Charles Sturt University course as a Commonwealth-supported student* in a Commonwealth-supported place.
  • Be enrolled in subjects for the current session.
  • Be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen, permanent Australian resident, or hold an Australian permanent visa (Permanent home address must be in Australia).
  • Demonstrate financial need, with continued study potentially at risk without assistance.
  • Provide a personal statement outlining your experience living with a disability/condition, the challenges you’ve faced in your academic journey, and how the grant would support your education and career goals.

*Full fee-paying students may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Interview Dates and Process

Your GPA will be considered as part of the assessment and ranking process for your application

Application Documents

1. Disability Documentation – Submit one or more of the following:

  • Current Study Access Plan
  • Letter from a relevant treating practitioner confirming diagnosis or condition
  • Centrelink Income Statement (dated within the last 45 days) confirming Disability Support Pension payments

2. Financial Need Documentation – Provide one of the following:

  • Centrelink Income Statement (dated within the last 45 days) or current Health Care Card
  • Supporting Financial Declaration form, along with:
  • 3 most recent payslips (including YTD earnings) for yourself and your partner (if applicable) OR
  • 2 most recent ATO Notices of Assessment for yourself and your partner (if applicable)

3. Additional Supporting Documents (if applicable):

· Referrals or quotes for a formal learning assessment if current documentation is insufficient or outdated.

· Quotes or invoices for costs related to your condition affecting participation in Intensive Schools and WPL.

· Quotes or invoices for educational supports not covered by the Accessibility and Inclusion team.

  • The Equity and Inclusion Grant will provide financial assistance to students demonstrating financial need relating to their disability or condition.
  • The grants value is determined through the assessment process.
  • Is payable by voucher or cash (EFT) to your nominated bank account that you have registered with Charles Sturt University, and/or via your student account.
  • Recipients are limited to one Equity and Inclusion Grant per session.
  • The Scholarship and Financial Support Officer will be responsible for the assessment, allocation, and administration of this grant.
  • If additional information is needed to complete the assessment of your application, we will reach out to you via email or schedule a one-on -one appointment with one of the Scholarship and Financial Support Officers to discuss your application further.

If you require general financial support for attending Placements or Intensives, that is not related to your disability or condition, we recommend applying for our Professional Placement Equity Grant or our Intensive School Grant

  • Applications with incorrect or no supporting documentation will be deemed ineligible.
