Charles Sturt University Clinical Excellence Queensland Midwifery Scholarship 2025

The Clinical Excellence Queensland Midwifery Scholarship is designed to support rural students in pursuing a career in midwifery. These scholarships provide assistance with tuition and attendance at placements and intensive schools. Queensland Health aims to support their midwives in regional Queensland, enabling them to work in diverse environments, make significant differences in small communities, and experience personal and professional growth. Benefits

This scholarship is valued at $7,432.00 and will be paid as a one-off payment. It covers course fees, which will be paid directly on your behalf, excluding SSAF fees which must be paid by the student. The remaining amount of the scholarship ($3,000.00) is to support the costs associated with two intensive schools required as part of your course. This portion of the payment will be made after the census date in the first session of study. Additionally, there is an opportunity to apply for an extra scholarship valued at $6,000 to travel to a maternity facility to complete your clinical competencies (the link to apply for this additional funding will be sent via email to successful applicants of the Clinical Excellence Queensland Midwifery Scholarship).
The scholarship will be paid by EFT to the personal bank account registered with Charles Sturt University, within 14 days after the successful notification of your application.

Requirements

  • The applicant must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident and reside in Queensland.
  • The applicant must be enrolled in the CSU Graduate Diploma of Midwifery in a Commonwealth Supported Place.
  • The applicant must be employed in a public hospital/maternity facility in Queensland as a registered nurse/student midwife.
  • Applicants to provide a personal introductory statement (400-500 words) which includes why you are applying for the scholarship and what you hope to achieve in the future through the completion of your midwifery diploma.

Application Documents

You must include the following documents to complete the application process:

  • Evidence of your employment in a Registered Nurse role as a student midwife within a Queensland public hospital. This may be your employment contract.

*You must provide scanned copies to be uploaded and submitted with your application. Documents can be provided in PDF, JPG, DOC or TIFF format.
