A generous bequest from the estate of AJ and IM Naylon has enabled the establishment of the AJ and IM Naylon Honours Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students enrolled in an honours program offered by Flinders University and undertaking a research project relevant to Australian agriculture, particularly in the areas of biodiversity and conservation, biotechnology, environmental health, environmental protection, and inland aquaculture.
Subject to the availability of funds, 10 scholarships valued at $10,000 each will be awarded in total. A full-time student will receive payment in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. A part-time student will receive a pro-rata payment after the census date of each semester. Payments will be made subject to satisfactory progress.
The scholarship recipient must:
*Scholarships are available to part-time students in exceptional circumstances, which include (but are not limited to) disability, illness, or carer responsibilities.
The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the extent to which an applicant's honours research project is relevant to Australian agriculture. Selection will be made by Student Finance Services in consultation with the College of Science and Engineering and Australian Executor Trustees in accordance with approved University procedures.
Scholarship recipients shall submit to the Selection Committee a final written report on their Honours research project within one month of completion.
