We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate / Fellow in Representation Theory. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Kevin Coulembier and Associate Professor Daniel Tubbenhauer. The project is concerned with representation theory in a broad sense, with a focus on the role of monoidal (tensor) structures and on large-scale / asymptotic behaviour of algebraic and categorical constructions. The aim is to develop general methods and apply them to concrete families arising across modern representation theory.
Your key responsibilities will include several of the following:
This position does not require teaching, but opportunities may be available for those who are interested.
The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Research Associate / Fellow who has:
demonstrated evidence of independent research ability and potential
primary research interests in representation theory, broadly interpreted
demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications skills, interacting with a variety of researchers and stakeholders
experience in at least one (1) of the following topics:
representation theory (e.g. Lie/quantum groups, Hecke algebras and related structures, geometric/higher representation theory)
Category theory (especially monoidal/tensor categories; diagrammatic or categorified settings welcome)
Combinatorial / analytic methods for algebraic structures (e.g. asymptotics, generating functions, probabilistic methods, analytic combinatorics)
