2026 Political Deepfake Discovery Honours Scholarship at University of the Sunshine Coast

The Political Deepfake Discovery Honours Scholarship is for high achieving students who are commencing their honours year at UniSC whose research interests and objectives are aligned with The Political Deepfake Discovery Honours project.

The Political Deepfake Discovery Honours project looks at political deepfakes and how people spot them, make sense of them, and react afterwards. It brings together ideas from behavioural science and communications to understand not just whether people can recognise a deepfake, but what they do next, fact-checking, searching for more information, sharing, commenting, or even remixing content in creative ways. By exploring these responses within real digital and media environments, the project aims to show how political deepfakes influence public conversations, shape people’s impressions, and move through today’s creative and communication networks.
