2026 Nita Curtis Scholarship at Flinders University

A generous donation from the Community Accommodation and Respite Agency (CARA) to honour the contribution made by Nita Curtis to the lives of people with severe disabilities, has enabled the establishment of The Nita Curtis Scholarship.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students and encourage a future workforce which has the sensitive capability to meet the needs of people living with severe disabilities.

Benefits

• Subject to the availability of funds, there will be one scholarship to the total value of $2,500 awarded annually. 

Requirements

Applicants must:

• be undertaking their study in Australia; and
• be undertaking either an Honours, Graduate Diploma, or a Master’s by coursework or research degree at Flinders University; and
• maintain satisfactory academic progress; and
• be undertaking study relevant to the disability field 

Selection Process

The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the following:

• academic merit; and
• demonstrated interest in disability services; and
• the extent to which applicants can demonstrate an interest in improving the lives of people living with severe disabilities in Australia.

Selection will be made by a selection panel with representatives from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.  If there are applicants studying in other Colleges, representatives from those Colleges will also be invited to participate in the selection process.
