INPEX Scholarship Foundation (a non-profit organisation connected with INPEX CORPORATION, Japan’s leading energy exploration and production company) have two scholarships available for 2026 to support Australian students pursuing (or wanting to pursue) Postgraduate studies at a Japanese university.

Benefits
The 2026 Scholarship covers a duration of up to two years and eight months, and provides:
- a monthly scholarship of 160,000yen,
- full coverage of university-related expenses
- return flights from Australia to Japan.
- arrival allowance of 60,000yen upon arrival in Japan
- financial assistance for Japanese language support before leaving Australia
Requirements
- Be an Australian citizen
- Under 30 years old at the time of application
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.00 or 5.00/7.00
- Hold (or to hold) a bachelor degree from an Australian University
- Aspire to pursue a master's program at a Japanese graduate school
- Have not been awarded a similar scholarship for studying in Japan for the current program cycle.
Selection Process
- Application review: Evaluation of application forms, academic records, research plans, LOR, LOA, and other document
- Interview: Short-listed candidates will undergo an interview conducted by the Foundation
- Final Decision: The Board of Directors will make the final selection.
