Professor Malcolm DH Smith was a leading international figure in Asian legal studies and the Founding Director of the Asian Law Centre at the University of Melbourne. Established to remember Professor Smith and his exceptional contribution to Asian legal studies, this scholarship is open to a first-year student enrolled in or enrolling in the Juris Doctor degree commencing at Melbourne Law School who has completed at a tertiary institution in Australia or Asia an undergraduate law degree or a degree majoring in Asian studies.
The scholarship provides a living allowance of $6,000 for one year, paid in half-yearly instalments in April and September.
