2025 ARC Project Focused on Diversity on News Media Workplaces Scholarship at Macquarie University

This project aims to research diversity in Australian news media, focusing on experiences of marginalised workers, including Indigenous, LGBTIQA+ and disabled individuals.

This research asks: What does ‘doing diversity’ do, and how can it be done differently?

We specifically want to explore the experiences of:

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and other culturally and racially marginalised workers
  • LGBTIQA+ workers (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer, asexual and other sexual and/or gender diverse people)
  • disabled workers
  • those whose identities cross these categories.
