The Anita Morawetz Scholarship was established by the Anita Morawetz Scholarship Fund, and is offered to students who are pursuing or intending to pursue research that will contribute to the clinical practice of family therapy.

Benefits

  • This scholarship provides a one-off payment of approximately $7500. This scholarship can be awarded in conjunction with other University of Melbourne scholarships.

Requirements

  • To be considered for this scholarship, you must have applied for the Master of Narrative Therapy and Community Work and meet all of the entry requirements for the course.

Selection Process

Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • Degree of demonstrated commitment to the clinical practice of family therapy (meaning demonstrated commitment to work with families, groups and/or communities).
  • Capacity of proposed practice-research to contribute to clinical practice in Australia in terms of originality, creativity, and/or scope.
  • Relevance of proposed practice-research to contribute to clinical practice with families, groups and communities most in need.

The selection committee will also keep in mind that during her career, Anita Morawetz demonstrated:

  • A commitment to responding to current social issues facing families.
  • Critical reflection
  • Academic rigour
  • Determination to carry forth the family therapy commitment of seeing people in context and not working with individuals in isolation of their wider relationships the value of international linkages and learning

Those intending to undertake the Master of Narrative Therapy and Community Work and apply for an Anita Morawetz Scholarship must complete BOTH a Course Application Form and a Scholarship Application Form and submit them along with any supporting information by the closing date for the scholarship applications. These applicants must meet all of the entry requirements for the course:

  1. An undergraduate degree in a cognate discipline or equivalent; and
  2. Evidence of two years of relevant work experience; and
  3. Evidence of completion of prior narrative therapy studies at Dulwich Centre or equivalent; and
  4. Statement of up to 500 words by the Applicant; and
  5. A professional referee report

Please ensure that all supporting documentation is uploaded so that the Selection Committee has all the information it needs to fully evaluate the scholarship applications.
