Benefits

• The scholarship provides a total benefit of $6000 paid as a lump sum.

Requirements

• Be commencing any undergraduate degree with the University of Newcastle.
• Be intending to include the study of languages as part of your undergraduate studies, which might include studying of Languages as an elective, as an essential part of the degree, or through concurrent enrolment in Diploma of Languages.
• Be intending to study on a full-time basis (minimum 60 units per year).
• Be an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident (including holders of a permanent humanitarian visa and New Zealand citizens with permanent residency).
• Not be the recipient of another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship concurrently.

Selection Process

Selection is a competitive process and will be based on an assessment of the scholarship application and any required supporting documents, with reference to the eligibility criteria. Your offer for this scholarship may be contingent upon receiving an offer of admission to the University and subsequently being accepted into an undergraduate degree program with us.

Required documents will be listed on the ‘Your Documents’ page of your application. The application portal accepts PDF only. A maximum of 3 PDF smaller than 5 MB can be added per document type upload field.

• A personal statement (approximately 1 A4 page) detailing your interest and/or achievements in language studies, how you plan to integrate language study into your University of Newcastle degree, and your aspirations within this field.
• You will have the option to include up to 3 documents which evidence your commitment to language studies and achievements to date, such as school reports, awards, evidence of private studies etc.
